SATURDAY'S WITH STEF: It took me 27 years to have a man open a car door...

12:00 AM

Sometimes I think about all the men who have came and went into my life. Sometimes I sit back and think, "What went wrong." You know what went wrong, I didn't have high standards. I didn't expect much from them.

Yesterday I was out with a friend and he followed me to my side of his car. I said, "What are you doing?" He laughed and said, "Opening the car door for you"

Sad, I am 27 and never had a man open the car door for me.

I wanted to cry.

I wanted to shake all the past men in my life.

It felt so foreign, I was almost embarrassed I reacted that way.

He found it funny, but for me, it was a realization of how BADLY I have been treated.

I didn't expect ANYTHING from them and I should have. I should have EXPECTED them to treat me right because I deserve to be treated right.

Any man would be stupid to not be up on this.

27 years and a man is BARELY opening the car door for me.

Wow! You're 27? You Look real YOUNG!

I can resonate with you on this post. Before my current bf, I was treated like trash and taken for granted. I never broke it off because I was scared no one would want me.

Funny thing... my ex recently tried to friend me on FB. It's been 7 years! I can't remember if I deleted him or he deleted me. It's been THAT long.

I declined the request. I've forgiven and moved on but I don't see us ever being friends.

He strung me along never fully committing for months. It's partially my fault for asking him to give me what he wasn't willing to give.

We were both young and stupid. I know better now :)

YOU DESERVE THE WORLD <3 xoxox ILOVEU (is that creepy when I haven't ever MET you?)

Oh darling, I'll tell you one thing - many men don't open doors for women and it's not always because they suck. Some just never learned. When the husband and I were first dating, he never opened a door. I sat him down and told him that's what I liked and now he always does it without fail. Sometimes we have to teach these men creatures. ;) I've also had men open the door with me who happened to be douche bags. Womp.

I am so sorry for your lack of being treated as something of value by a man. I always feel a weight in the pit of my stomach when I hear about a beautiful woman and her troubles with the basic functions of dating and being treated like a lady.

But now that you know what you are worth, it should be a matter of finding someone who recognizes you for the jewel that you are...
