Weekly Weigh-In: I didn't weigh in...

12:07 AM

So your are probably like, "Stef, why didn't you weigh in?" Well I actually woke up with an allergic reaction. So I decided it was best to avoid going anywhere unless I needed to. However, I have been getting emails on any other programs I have used besides Weight Watchers that worked.

As you all know Weight Watchers costs me $40 a month, however, if you want to do it online, you can do it for $15. But as we all know, times are hard and not everyone can fork out that money. FREE IS BETTER! So I am going to give you a little review one called Myfitnesspal.com which is also an app what I used before I joined Weight Watchers and my dear friend Rachel over at Where west Meets South is going to be a guest blogger on my website and she is using LoseIt! another free app/website.

Prior to joining Weight watchers I did a FREE app called Myfitnesspal. Instead of counting points, you count calories. There is an index in which you can look up your favorite foods and restaurants. You can also earn activity calories when you do some sort of exercise. On the website you have the ability to add friends who also joined the website. There is a message board filled with ideas from other members and you have the ability to join groups. What I loved about this website is it was similar to the Weight Watchers programs just with calories instead of points. Which is easier, because you do not have to add any nutritional information together, just the calories.
This app worked for me.

So I give it a 4.5 out of 5.

As I said, I am asking my friend Rachel to review Loseit! If you haven't checked out her blog, please head over to her blog HERE and follow! Such a unique blog and blogger!

Hey everyone!  I was asked by our beloved Stefanie to review an Iphone app for weight loss called Lose It!. I have been using Lose It! consistently for about 2 weeks (I used it before, which I'll explain later).  It's a really great app that is completely FREE!  Some of the features include weight goals, calorie/food entry, exercise entry, nutrient tracker, syncs with their website Loseit.com and social networks.  You can also add friends and see what they're doing, set up reminders and earn badges.  There is a lot in this free app, but one of the things I most like is there are NO ADS!  It's layout is very simple and so easy to use.  My only complaint is that unless you have actual real life friends to encourage you on your weight loss journey, it can be difficult to stick to it.  But this can be easily said about any weight loss program.  I used this app early this year and lost 10 pounds in about 3 weeks!  Then I stopeed because I lost my job, got depressed, blah blah blah.  In the last 2 weeks I've lost 5 pounds using LoseIt!  And I'm sticking with it this time because I have the encouragement of friends!  One thing that I'm sure LoseIt! will add, because their competitors have, is bar code scanner.  This would make LoseIt! an ultimate app in my opinion.

So there you have it Ladies and gentlemen! FREE weightloss apps and sites that REALLY work!
I want to thank Rachel for being my guest blogger today at such a short notice and once again if you guys havent checked Rachels Blog out, make sure you head on over to her page and follow!

I use My Fitness Pal and I have to agree it's pretty cool and I like that they added the scanner to it. It helps controlling my calorie intake.

Hooray for losing weight!!! I cannot afford WW either and was so glad to find LoseIt! I haven't tried My Fitness Pal, but I've seen on the LoseIt! Facebook page that's they are similar. However MFP recently added the bar code scanner, and LoseIt! fans are urging the app creators to do the same. At any rate, everyone has to find their own mojo! Thanks for letting me be a guest blogger Stef! And when I make it back to Cali, we gotta see each other :D

I don't own a scale so I never know how much I weight but I'm a huge fan of Fitness Pal. Everyone in my office does it which is a good reminder to keep logging in and tracking what we eat.

I've used MFP. It's great and helps kick start your lifestyle change of eating clean. Never heard of Loseit, I'll have to check that out.

I've thought about WW but I always feel reluctant when i have to pay for programs unless it's the gym and even then I don't go too often =\ Soo, I'm gonna download this app now :)

Great post! Thank you for sharing.

I've used all three apps (WW, LoseIt, and MyFitnessPal). But I have to say that out of all I prefer LoseIt. I found it very easy to use and their community is filled with people who support and encourage you to keep going. I've been on it since January and have lost 45# on it. I love it. However, I admit that now I use it mostly for the support and tips... not necessarily counting calories. You see after a while you pretty much learn what's good for your body and what isn't. But if I know I'm gonna be eating junk then I def keep track of the calorie intake and keep myself on check. I love it and def recommend it to anyone... good luck all!
